Background on “The Worlds”
Canada, together with 26 other nations, represents the growing sport of Handball and Wall Ball. The World Handball Championships have been held every three years since 1964 alternating between Canada, Ireland, and the USA. Other stops have included Australia, and the 2018 Worlds are scheduled for Venice, Italy. There are over 3,000 handball and wall ball clubs world-wide with players ranging in age from 9 years to 83 Years.
The last Worlds were held in Dublin, Ireland in October 2012 with over 2,000 players competing.
The two previous championships were held in Portland, Oregon and Edmonton, Alberta.
Both proved to be very successful tournaments, particularly in regards to hospitality events,
sponsorship opportunities and great organization capabilities provided by these committees.
Calgary, Alberta is proud to host the 2015 World Handball Championships from August 11th to 21st, 2015.
