Today marked the official opening of the Juvenile 40 20 season with the Boherbue blitz for under 10/11 age group category. A large group of individuals showed up for what was to be a fun day of timed games with the emphasis on each player getting a minimum of two-three games each to start off their season of competition. As luck would have it, the opening game consisted of club mates and friends Ethan Murphy and Eric Delany pitched against each other with Eric partnering Evan Enright and Ethan partnering Liam Moynihan.

This proved to be a nip and tuck affair that definitely shook off the cobwebs of the summer recess with Ethan & Liam pinching it just as the time ran out by the narrowest of margins, a solitary ace.
Eric and Evan again partnered for their second game of the day this time facing Anthony O’Connor & Aiden Lenihan. Aiden with the advantage of home venue used it to his full potential in what proved to be an interesting game.
Ethan & Liam again partnered for their second match and continued their winning ways by defeating David Kenny & Gearoid Healy by a narrow margin. The tightly contested first match stood to them as they seemed to gel much better and began to cover for each other also.
To add a bit of spice to the day’s events the teams got a shake up from here on in and Eric was partnered by his Liscarroll friend Gearoid Healy. Facing this pairing was Eoin Hegarty & Fionn O’Kentor. This matching could not be separated when the time was up and the drawn score line seemed a fair result as each played their heart out.
Ethan’s & his new partner Evan Enright faced Thomas Sheehan & Tommy Bowler and this pairing also could not be separated come full time.
The last games off the day proved to be the best as both Ethan & Eric with their respective partners were much more focused and displayed an array of shots that they had kept in their arsenal till now. Both player’s had matured and improved with each game during the day and now looked like Handballers as they fetched and retrieved back wall shots and front wall kills, with both coming out on the winning sides of their encounters.
A big thank you to all in Boherbue for their professionalism in game organisation and the hospitality provided.
